How To Light Lump Charcoal With Easy And Simple Steps

These days, family gatherings are very favorable since it is the chance for everyone to meet and talk with each other. As a consequence, people tend to have more barbeque parties and get familiar with using either the charcoal or gas to grill the food. However, I have met a number of people struggling with the charcoal preparation process and that is why I write the article “how to light lump charcoal” With some easy steps, you can do it the best in only seconds. Now, let’s get started!

How To Light Lump Charcoal

I have to say that charcoal is an amazing item for your in-house barbecue. It comes in the big lumps that make it easy to work with. Compared with the little briquettes, the good lump charcoal itself is very pure. The reason is that it is manufactured directly from the natural hardwood.

Though both the charcoal and the briquettes have their own pros and cons, I still like the charcoal more. Well, the briquette is infused with the little bits of sawdust from the tree. Therefore, I am sure that you will get the better flavor as well as more brilliant taste when using the natural lump charcoal. In the past, I have experienced a variety of ways to light the lump charcoal.

And of course, I have figured out two good ways to start the lump charcoal for the smoker, the grill, and the pit. First of all, I recommend the chimney, which is a great way to start your charcoal. Using the chimney is a very natural and clean way, in my opinion.

On the other hand, you can use the turbo flame. This is also a good product that you will never pass when lighting the lump charcoal. Many people will prefer using the lighter fluid. However, I do not think this is a great and useful item.

After using the lighter fluid for a few times, I do not have a thought to use it again. It can make your food greasy. Furthermore, you are going to run out of the lighter fluid if you use the minor one. Thus, I am sure that you can light lump charcoal properly without the lighter fluid.

Now, let’s go through the details!

Step 1: Fill The Newspapers Under The Chimney

If you are about to use the chimney, it will be very simple. Firstly, you need to go out and grab some newspapers that you do not read anymore. The next step is to crumble up a bunch of these pages and stick them underneath the chimney.

Remember not to overfill it, which is a very important factor. Otherwise, you will not get any air into it.

Step 2: Pour The Charcoal Into The Chimney

Next, you can open up the lump charcoal bag and pour some in the chimney. It will probably take about half or a quarter of the bag based on the size of your chimney. In case you see a piece that is too large to fit into the chimney, do not throw it away.

How do you handle this situation? All you have to do is take a hammer, break it into smaller pieces, and stick them into your chimney.

Step 3: Light The Newspapers In The Bottom

Once having the charcoal on the top and the newspapers in the bottom, you can stick your little torch there. Go ahead and light the newspapers. You need to light many sides to make sure it gets going. In 15 or 20 minutes, you will have a nicely burned-down piece of charcoal that you can use to cook with.

As the flames take over the charcoal, you are going to get some sparking. At this stage, you can hear some popping. They are the air pockets that are in the charcoal. They were created during the manufacturing process. So, do not worry since it is common in all lump charcoals.

Make sure that you wait for your charcoal to burn down before putting your food on top. By this way, you will not have any of the charcoal popping on your food. I love using this method since it works out really well. The charcoal can go in a natural manner so that it will not affect our health.

Step 4: Transfer The Charcoal From The Chimney To The Pit

After 15 minutes, the charcoal will be burned down pretty well. You can see that it is nice, hot and gray around the edges. Hence, it is time to transfer the coals from the chimney down into the pit. For safety, I highly recommend that you should use a towel or a barbeque mitt to pick up the chimney.

Then, you can pour the charcoal into the bottom of the grill or the pit. Oh, make sure to spread these hot pieces out. If you are going to cook for a lot of people, you can add some more charcoal to the grill.

However, I used to make a small mistake here. When adding some more charcoal, it might keep sparking for a while. As a result, you need to wait for this condition to finish before starting to cook. And it is very convenient to cook the grilled food or even a good way to reheat the bacon for your children.

  • Step 1: Pour The Charcoal Into The Grill

Apart from the chimney, you can have another option which is the turbo flame. It is kind of either an extended lighter or a small torch to get your charcoal going. As always, the first thing to do is take the charcoal and pour it into the grill. Then, you need to make a mound out of it so as to get some air inside.

  • Step 2: Extend The Lighter Past The Turbo Flame

After that, you can get your turbo flame product together with the lighter. Extend the lighter past the nozzle of the turbo flame, and you can get it on.

As the flame gets going, it is going to spark again. However, you can see that it is a little more accelerated this time. As a result, do not forget to stand back from the flame. The great thing about the turbo flame is that you can get 10 or 15 minutes before the can runs dry.

Before ending my sharing, I still have a fantastic tip regarding the used charcoal. Since it is a natural product, you can add the ashes to the soil amendment. And then, you can put this mixture right back into your garden. It will provide great nutrients for your plants.

In summary, I hope that all of the information above will make you more interested and excited. After going through this article, you can have a general idea about how to light lump charcoal. By following these simple and straightforward steps, you can have a big and perfect party for your whole family. You can even reheat the meatloaf when necessary. How To Make Espresso With Keurig

These days, coffee goes hand in hand with most of the people every morning. In particular, there is one popular coffee style that most of you will love. I am sure that each of you used to hear espresso, and I am addicted to this drink. If you have a chance to enjoy the finest espresso, you will not taste the other drinks. Some of you may not believe me so that I am willing to tell you how to make espresso with Keurig. After making a great cup of espresso for yourself, you will believe in my words.

What Is Espresso?

general, espresso is a coffee brewing method which first appeared in Italy in 1930. In Italian, espresso means a special drink and it is very popular in Italy, Spain, and Europe. Espresso is not a type of bean roast, it is a process using pressure to extract a beverage from the finely ground coffee.

For different people, you may have interest in different styles of espresso. First of all, the smallest is the Ristretto, sometimes called a short shot. It is a very concentrated espresso which is about ¾ of an ounce.

Hence, a Ristretto uses the same amount of ground coffee as regular espresso. However, it is usually ground finer to produce a smaller beverage using the same extraction timing.

Next is a standard single espresso. This style uses about 7 grams of brown coffee and produces a beverage of about 1 ounce. It is kind of the basis of measurement of espresso.

Going to the next one, we have the espresso Doppio. In Italian, Doppio means double, so a Doppio is twice the size of a single espresso. The key thing to remember here is that it also uses twice as much ground coffee. Thus, you will use 14 grams in the same shot timing.

Why Is Espresso Very Popular In The World?

Appealing Smell

Espresso easily keeps the heart of anyone since it delivers a very attractive smell. Thanks to the perfect grinding process, espresso can capture a lot of aromatic compounds in the air. This is why you cannot avoid this brilliant coffee smell for sure.

It will be a perfect moment if you can enjoy the finest espresso with cookie doughs. I have tried this combination, and I am sure that many of you will love it.

Using The Finest Coffee Beans

The first and foremost element for good espresso is the ingredients. Having the finest ground particles can help to create the wonderful brewing process. The ground particles will not lose their rich flavor under high pressure and high temperature.

Therefore, you can have the best aromatic compounds in the end. I highly recommend that you should keep the right pressure and temperature for espresso. Otherwise, the coffee oils may not be fully extracted since they still get stuck in the coffee particles.

Produce Long-lasting And Unforgettable Aftertaste

If you are espresso lovers, I am sure that you will remember the taste after one sip. A fantastic taste will remain on your tongue as well as your throat for a while. Thus, drinking espresso can bring a long-lingering aftertaste for you.

Require The Shortest Time of Brewing

Lastly, I am keen on making espresso since it takes the least time to brew. The brewing cycle is within only 20 to 25 seconds. This great factor will prevent the tannic acid from breaking down and leach into your espresso.

I have to say that this point is very useful and pleasing to hear. You do not want to add more bitterness to your cup of espresso.

How To Make Espresso With Keurig

When we are thinking about good espresso, there are many factors that we need to keep in mind. And just like in any cooking that you do, you need to take the right ingredients. For espresso, two major ingredients you are going to end up in your cup is water and coffee.

Hence, you need to make sure you have the right water. Also, do not forget to have good and fresh coffee (at least 9grams). Otherwise, the espresso is not going to taste any good. If you use great coffee, you will have more margin for error. You can make a small mistake, and it will not manifest itself as something that is undrinkable.

Now, I will introduce you how to make espresso with Keurig. There are some amazing coffee makers on the current market that you can consider. Though you can make espresso without the machine or use the manual coffee grinders, these items can save much time for busy people.

They offer very outstanding features that can assist you in creating the finest homemade espresso. You can choose the size of espresso and the milk frothing style. Moreover, you can adjust the espresso flavors to your preference by using the espresso pods. After trying all the pods, you can know which styles will suit your taste.

Step By Step Guide On How To Make Espresso With Keurig

Step 1: Pour The Water

Firstly, if the Keurig does not have enough water, you should pour the clean water into it. Then, the Keurig will heat the water to 200 Fahrenheit degree. By this way, all of the ground particles will be extracted from the coffee beans.

Step 2: Brewing Process

Next, you should clean the portafilter with the dry cloth and think about the brew ratio. This is the amount of coffee that you are putting into the portafilter. When it comes to this ratio, we will have 18 grams in the portafilter for 36 grams in the cup.

So, you can understand that the brew ratio is one-two. Therefore, when people say that they like certain espressos, it really helps to be able to define. If you are making a single espresso (30 ml), you can put about 7 grams of coffee beans into the portafilter.

Secondly, you should know how long it takes to achieve the ratio you are looking. This factor depends on the grind size. If you have very coarse grind, the water will run through very fast. Otherwise, if you have fine grind, the water will sit on top and run through very slowly.

Usually, you do not need to worry about brew temperature thanks to the machine. If you have a darker roasted coffee, you should brew at a lower than 200 Fahrenheit degree. On the other hand, you will be brewing at a higher temperature.

Step 3: Pull The Espresso

After brewing, you can put the portafilter back to the Keurig. Then, you can turn on the machine and set the timer. In my opinion, most espresso tastes good is anywhere from 25 to 35 seconds. With this duration, you can create a stronger shot.

If you think the volume is enough, you can turn off the machine and serve yourself.

In summary, I hope that all of the information in this article can help to gain your understanding. I am sure that you can know some facts about espresso and why this drink is so popular in the world. Furthermore, you can learn how to make espresso with Keurig only by easy steps.
